N.Z. COUNCIL MEETS KIRK-WINDEYER CUP At the monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association, held at "Wellington recently, the chairman brought to the meeting a draft of proposed rules in connection with the luture competitions for the Ivirk-Windeyer Cup, which were based upon discussions held by himself and Mr. A. D. S. Duncan with the captains of the Victorian and New South Wales teams at Christchurch. The suggestions were fully discussed, but as a complete agreement could not be reached regarding a very important clause, dealing with the matter of where New Zealand stands with regard to the draw, it was resolved that Sir Alexander Roberts and Mr. Crombie shall go into the question again i L nd re-draft this suggested clause. A letter was received from Dr. Sydney Jones, captain of the New South Wales team, congratulating the New Zealanders upon having won the cup on their merits, and thanking everyone who had extended hospitality to the visitors. A letter was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union, advising that its championship meeting will be held at Heretaunga, Wellington, from October 10 to 23. It was resolved to offer the ladies’ committee of the Wellington Golf Club a grant of £SO toward the cost of the trophies at the championship meeting. as has been done for some years past. The secretary reported that a circular- had been received from the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews giving particulars of the various types of steel shafted clubs which have been submitted to and approved of by the Rules of Golf Committee of the Royal and Ancient Club.
ROTORUA CLUB From Our Own Correspondent ROTORUA, Tuesday. The first event of the Rotorua Golf Club’s season, a handicap medal round, was held on Saturday, the number of entrants being gratifying. The veteran. T. Kelly, sprang a surprise on the liandicapper, returning a card with a net 63, seven below bogey. The best cards are:—Kelly. 14. 79 —65; Buddie. 9, 81—72: N. Smith. 10. 53—73; Empeer, 3 2, 86 —74: Worthington, 12. SS —76: C. E. Kusabs, 4. SO—76: Lewis, 18. 94—76; W. Foggin, 10, 87—77; Copeland Smith, 7, 84 —77. The following handicaps have been adjusted:—Kelly, 14 to 10; Jasper. 29.
