HELP FOR ORPHANS

EQUIPMENT FOR BRETT HOME An enthusiastic response to an appeal for aid in equipping the Brett Memorial Home, Takapuna. was made at a meeting held at Takapuna yesterday. The meeting, which was presided over by the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, consisted of representatives of the seven Anglican parishes of the North Shore. Each parish agreed to take some definite responsibility. Devonport undertook to provide kitchen utensils and Milford to furnish all the inmates with waterproof capes. Stanley Bay will organise a “Paddy’s Market,” and devote the whole proceeds to the provision of the orphanage’s most urgent requirements. One woman promised £lO from Takapuna as the nucleus of a fund for furnishing purposes, and Mrs. T. Atwood undertook to organise a garden fete.
