GLIMPSING THE GREAT
WELL KNOWN MEN LOOK AT LIFE TODAY KAISER’S “FAITH” UNSHAKEN Reed. 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Monday. “Glimpsing the Great” is the title of a book published today by Sylvester Viereck, who has interviewed the world’s great men to see how they look at life. G. B. Shaw says: “I would prohibit poverty by putting to death everyone earning less than £6OO a year, or asking for more.” Mr. Viereck asked Shaw whether he would like to be rejuvenated. Shaw replied: “If anything, I want to be senilised, but ask me in 30 or 40 years’ time.” The ex-Kaiser said: “I tried to rule the Empire for the greater glory of God and for the greater glory of God I now try to make Doom more beautiful. God wanted me to rule for 30 years as Emperor and then discarded me, and allowed me to be dethroned, perhaps to try whether my faith was shaken. It is not. His will be done.”
