UNCLAIMED SECTIONS
WEED FIRE MENACE POSITION AT NEW LYNN Houses have been endangered in three recent outbreaks of fire which have occurred among the noxious weeds growing on unoccupied sections Mi New Lynn. The owner of one of these houses complained to the Borough Council, which, he said, was responsible through not ordering the sections to be cleared by their owners. The council has explained that this could not be done since the owners of several sections cannot be found. Upon the formation of the borough some time ago an a.-ea was taken from the Waitemata County and brought under the council's jurisdiction. It is here that the confusion has arisen. The council is unable to sell these unclaimed sections until three years has elapsed, but in the meantime is taking the precaution of clearing away the noxious weeds at its own cost.
