METHODIST CAMP
WOMEN'S BIBLE CLASS UNION The Easter camp, under the auspices of the Methodist Young Women’s Bible Class Union, was held in Rawene, Hokianga. This is the first camp of this kind held in the district, and there were present 58 girls from all parts of North Auckland, under the leadership of Miss Elsie Sewell, travelling secretary of the movement. Steinert. fatigues and house officer; and Miss Nora Cochran® commissariat officer. The theme of the study circles, an important part of the programme, was “One Increasing Purpose,” taken in four studies. “The Dawning Ideas of the Purposeful God, as shown in the Old Testament,” “The Purpose of God shown through Jesus Christ,” “God’s Purpose at* Work in the World,” and “God’s Purpose for the Individual.” Each study proved interesting and challenging, giving much scope for deep thought. The thoughts gathered in these studies were continued in the evening talks when the topics were “Love, th« Prize of Life,” by Miss P. Grant. “Y* are Friends” by Miss M. W'addingham of Auckland, and “Whither Bound” bv Miss Sewell. The Rev. D. Hickman addressed the campers on the meaning of Easter. The camp communion service was celebrated in the Methodist Church and th© girls all attended the evening service A launch trip was made to Mangungu Point, farther up the harbour, where stands the Methodist centenary monument, unveiled in 1937 in memory of th© early missionaries in Hokianga.
