MUNICIPAL CONCERT
TOWN HALL THIS EVENING Tonight in the Town Hall at 8 o’clock the Municipal Band continues the above series of concerts, with a programme devoted entirely to Sullivan works. From grave to gay the performance will alternate with charming variety. Of outstanding importance is the “In Memoriam” overture. Excerpts are culled from “The Mikado,” “The Yeomen of the Guard,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” “The Gondoliers” and “Patience.” Of much charm will be found the song from “Haddon Hall,” “Queen of the Garden, Bloom’d a Rose,” specially arranged by the bandmaster for the brass section of the band. The calm and noble strains of the anthem “Brother thou art gone before us,” taken from “The Martyr of Antioch” and arranged by the bandmaster for double quartet of brass instruments, will make a deep appeal. Mrs. Laetitia Parry will render some of Sullivan’s early ballads, with Miss Gordon at the piano.
