TIVOLI THEATRE
“Madame X,” acclaimed by cinemagoers everywhere as the most dramatic talkie yet made, commences a season at the Tivoli Theatre today. The story is one of Parisian judicial life and was made famous on the stage by the great emotional actress, Sarah Bernhardt. In this talking film version the roles are taken by outstanding stars, Ruth Chatterton, Lewis Stone,and Raymond Hackett. A number of enjoyable shorter talkie items will also be shown.
MUNICIPAL CHOIR The Municipal Choir will give a concert in the Town Hall on Saturday evening next, when the assisting artists will include Miss Molly Wright, ’cellist, Mi*. lan Devereux, vocalist, and Messrs. Randal and Whittaker, accompanists. Mr. Maughan Barnett will conduct the choir. ‘Smilin’ Thru,” in which Joan Bennett becomes a United Artists’ star, will be an all-technicolour production.
