Dr. Charles Pattison -was committed for trial on a charge of procuring Peter Prior, a half-caste native, to murder Robert Curry, the foreman at Palm Island sawmill. Ralph Matthews said he heard Pattison say to some “boys.” “What is being done to prevent Curry’s return?” Tlio boys replied that they were posting themselves along the beach and that they had orders to shoot Curry. Pattison said: “Shoot him in the guts, where he shot me!”
