LORRY OVERTURNS
SWERVE TO AVOID BOY DRIVER ESCAPES UNINJURED At about 8.30 this morning an accident occurred in Lake Road, Takapuna, when a motor-truck owned by Messrs. W. and H. Smale and driven by Mr. Edward Wright, mounted a footpath and overturned. The truck was proceeding toward Hauraki Corner when a boy suddenly appeared on the road ahead. The driver swerved sharply to the left and in doing so the vehicle mounted the footpath and overturned discharging its load of scoria on the path.
The body of the lorry was strained while the windscreen and cab were smashed. The driver climbed out of the wreckage, apparently uninjured. There is no fence at the spot, and the vehicle came to rest slightly overhanging the edge of a sharp depression 15 or 20ft deep.
