UNDERWRITERS’ PRESENTATION

The members of the Auckland Fire and Accident UnderAvriters’ Association met on Tuesday and made a fareAvell presentation to Mr. Walter Pavitt, who has retired from the Auckland managership of the Royal Insurance Company, Limited. A combination oak bookcase and writing-cabinet were presented to Mr. Pavitt, and Mrs. Pavitt was given an afternoon tea. service. Mr. Pavitt Avas also presented with a chiming clock by Mr. Hopkins, on behalf of the Royal Insurance Company. Mr. H. Tregear said that the association would miss Mr. Pavitt. He was a man of varied experience and sound judgment, whose career had extended over 48 years. The following also spoke of Mr. Pavitt’s qualities: Mr. T. Miller, vice-president of the council of Fire Underwriters of NeAv Zealand; Mr. W. Romayne, Queensland; Mr. H. P. Hopkins, controlling officer of the Royal Insurance Company for New Zealand; Mr. J.
