PRESENTATIONS
Mr. W. J. Short was presented at a meeting of the Pukekohe Rugby Union last evening with a canteen of cutlecy in recognition of his services during eight years as secretary and treasurer to the union. The president, Mr. J. P. Rae, said the gift would express the union’s appreciation of the way Mr. Short had carried out his duties, starting at the inception of the union and continuing until, at his own request, he was relieved of the position at the recent annual meeting.
The directors and staff of A. S. Paterson and Co. met yesterday to make a presentation to Mr. A. J. Wills, who is leaving the firm. Mr. E. s! Eastgate, the manager, expressed the director’s appreciation of Mr. Wills’s services, and their wishes for his future success.
A desk was presented, to Mr. C. H. Venimore, senior telegraph supervisor at the* Hamilton chief post office for the past 18 months, at a staff gathering held prior to his transfer to Auckland. Mr. C. A. Mathieson, the chief postmaster, who made the presentation, spoke of the staff’s regret at Mr Venimore’s departure. Mr. J. Broadbent, of Wellington, succeeds Mr. Venimore, who will hold a similar position in Auckland.
