LOSS TO TAKAPUNA
MR. J. W. HAYDEN'S RETIREMENT After seven years of almost unbroken service on the Takapuna Borough Council, Mr. J. W. Hayden resigned membership and all offices last evening. In moving that the resignation be received, the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, stated that the borough would be infinitely the poorer by the loss of the matured judgment of Mr Hayden. In his offices of DeputyMayor and chairman of the Works Committee, Mr. Hayden had been wonderfully tactful. Mr. Williamson also made appreciative reference to the untiring work, in every charitable cause, of Mrs. Hayden, who still carried on the work she initiated when Mayoress of the borough. other members spoke in similar strain.
The vacant offices of Deputy-Mayoi and works chairman will not be filled until after the by-election which the resignation has made necessary.
