The Customs authorities closed the local port to parrots and love bird? following the outbreak of parrot disease which was traced to birds which had recently arrived from Yokohama. All the parrots were ordered to be destroyed and a large part of an infected shipment already seat to Eastern Canada is being traced. There are six cases of the disease, two of which are likely to be fatal.
