CRICKETERS TRY OUT ON COLD WICKET
CONTRACTS FOR AUTOGRAPHS
United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. A special sound film of the Australian cricketers was made at Lords
this morning. Bradman was showing the effects of the cold, and was not timing as accurately as usual. Jackson knocking out his leg stump. Bright sunshine made the wicket more difficult, but Woodfull confl
dently gave a full-face bat to a varied attack. Hurwood's bowling was again impressive as he twice badly beat Ponsford. Of the Australian cricketers who were indisposed Bradman is improving and Kippax is still in bed. Kippax is to go to Worcester on Wednesday, but will not play in the first match of the tour there. After studying the Board of Control’s contract the manager of the team, Mr. J. J. Kelly, has decided that there is nothing in it which prevents the cricketers accepting contracts for the use of their autographs and photographs. Consequently he will take no action. Nevertheless he discountenances the proposal. He regards it as a breach of the spirit of the board’s contract. The members of the team met pri -vately to discuss the situation and some are believed to have accepted contracts.
