TROUBLESOME CROWD

LOCK OFFICIALS UP AND PRESS RELIEF CLAIMS SCENE AT DARWIN DARWIN, Tuesday. One hundred unemployed men marched through the streets at Darwin today. Finally they locked themselves in a room with the Government Resident, the chier health officer, and two members of the Advisory Commission. The intruders demanded sustenance allowances- and certain other privileges. These the Resident could not grant owing to lack of money. The police arrived and burst into the room. They dispersed the men, who then gathered on the verandah and defied the police, saying they intended to remain there. The police are not armed but say they can deal with the situation.
