NOISES THAT ANNOY
LIVE-STOCK AND LOUDSPEAKER COMPLAINTS OF NUISANCE A parrot that screeched for two or three hours each day, a dog that barked and howled at night, and a loud-speaker which was operated until two or three o’clock in the morn ing were the subject of a complaint received at last evening’s meeting of the Mount Albert J3orough Council. The complainant, a woman, wrote to the council appealing for help in silencing the pests. Mr. A. A. Buckley said he had spoken to the writer of the letter, and had been informed that one of the occupants of her house was almost on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Some members held the view that it was not the council’s duty to interfere, but it was decided that the inspector of nuisances should take such action as was legally within his powers to have the alleged nuisance abated.
