KINDERGARTEN SERVICE
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION’S WORK ANNUAL MEETING HELD A year of steady and -consistent work, which had ensured definite and sound progress, was recorded in the report of the Auckland Kindergarten Association, presented at tho annual meeting this morning. There were now eight free kindergartens under the association’s control, -five in the city, and one each at Newmarket, Onehunga, and Otahuhu, but there was room for more both in the city and suburbs. The Health Department had arranged for medical inspection of the children, and it was hoped that dental inspection would be undertaken later on. St. John district nurses and ambulance sisters had continued to give useful assistance. Receipts from all sources totalled £2,616, compared with £1,773 last year, and payments £2,057, as against £1,931. Bank balances stood at £2,246 compared with £1,773 last year. Accumulated funds showed an increase of £638 on the previous year, the finances on the whole being in a very satisfactory positioq. Officers were lected as follow: President, Mr. A. S. Brown; vice-presidents, Mrs. E. H. B. Milsom and Mr. J. H. Jackson; council, Messrs. G. Brownlee, C. J. Ellerbeck, J. S. Milne, H. P. Richmond, J. Stanton, C. J. Tunks, H. D. Cousins; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. O’Halloran. A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs. Olipliant and the late Mrs. Wake, two consistent workers in kindergarten work, was passed, members standing in silence.
