GOOD POSITION

HARBOUR BOARD FINANCE HALF-YEARLY RETURN A satisfactory position is revealed in the half-yearly statement of cash receipts and payments of the Auckland Harbour Board. For the six months ended March 31. 1930, a net credit balance of £12.085 is shown. This was reported at yesterday’s meeting of the board. Mr. G. It. Hutchinson presiding. Ordinary receipts amounted to £. 207,386, which is £14.386 in excess of the half of the estimate for the full year. Th general maintenance and working expenses amounted to £70,320. Allowing for items non-recurring, the figure shows a saving of £ 3.000 against the half of the estimate for the full year. The payments on capital works were £3,654, as against a years estimate of £30,765. For the Manukau Harbour, receipts incluae £2,558 advance from the general account, and ordinary revenue £3.224. This shows £4S6 deficient of the proportion of estimate. Payments of interest and sinking funds agree with the estimate. The working expenses and maintenance, £2.805. includes _ £1, ; I50 for Onehunga Wharf, or £6ao greater than the estimate. Omitting this item, the other operations show a saving of £3OO acainst the half-year s estimate. Capital disbursements are £26 against contingencies, £605, in the estimates for the year.
