LARGE HOUSE BURNED

OUTBREAK AT HASTINGS Press Association NAPIER, Tuesday. An eleven-roomed house, owned by Mr. William Woods and occupied by his nephew, Mr. Henry Woods, in Seddou Street, Hastings, was almost completely destroyed by fire about 3.40 a.m. today. The house had been unoccupied for some days, on account of the absence from town of Mrs. Woods. Her hushand, in the meantime, was staying with friends. Mr. Woods was last in the house on Sunday morning, when he went to collect some clothes, and uo fire had been lit there since Good Friday. By the time the alarm was given the house was blazing. The brigade with difficulty prevented the fire from reaching the adjoining house, occupied by the owner of the destroyed house, which was insured for £650 with the New Zealand Insurance Company. The furniture was not covered.
