SERIOUS ASSAULT
CHARGE AGAINST JOCKEY GIRL’S DESPERATE STRUGGLE From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. A jockey, Claude James Regan, of Auckland, was charged in the Police Court today before Mr. Wyvern Wilson with committing rape. The evidence showed that he met a girl at a dance oil the night of Saturday, April 12. They left together toward midnight, and when they reached a vacant section near the technical school he assaulted her after a severe struggle. When help came the girl was hysterical, and semi-conscious. She was conveyed to the police station, and later taken to the hospital. The girl concerned fainted while evidence was being given.
