MOTORIST TO PAY COSTS

WOMAN KNOCKED DOWN Following an accident on the Great North Road on January 4, Robert Norcross was charged in the Police Court today with dangerous driving. He was convicted and ordered to pay £ 6 10« costs. According to Sub-Inspector Shanahan, defendant was driving from Hendei son to Auckland, and when near Suirey Crescent he knocked down and seriously injured a woman who was crossing the road. Defendant had crossed to the wrong side of the road, and the evidence indicated that the accident would not have occurred had he not done so.

Mr. Goldstine said the woman was still in hospital, and a particularly heavy civil claim was pending against defendant. As defendant had been put to considerable expense, already and the breach was not wilful t counsel pleaded for a nominal fine.
