“BLACK PAMPHLET”
WHO PRINTED THE DOCUMENT? MR. WRIGHT HITS OUT An indignant and smashing retort to an insinuation that his firm had been responsible for the publication of the “Black pamphlet” some years ago, was given By Mr. R, A. Wright, former Minister of Education, speaking at Remuera last evening. Mr. Wright, who had eulogised Sir Joseph Ward’s qualities, claimed long friendship with the Prime Minister. It was to this point a questioner at the back directed his point when he asked Mr. Wright if he was the former Minister of Education and a member of the firm of Wright and Carman, who printed the “Black pamphlet.” “Yes, T am the former Minister of Education and a member of the firm of Wright and Carman,” began Mr. Wright quietly. “But,” he declared, violently, “if you can prove my firm printed the Black pamphlet I will resign my seat in the House.” tie added that the author of the Black pamphlet had applied to him to print it, and when this was refused asked to be allowed to run it off on one of the firm’s machines, and this also was declined.
