FIGHT AGAINST TIDE
WOMEN HELP TO SAVE BUNGALOW VILLAGE SEA BURSTS BARRIER Reed. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Sunday. Women worked beside men wheeling barrows and piling up gravel against barricades in an effort to save from the tide the bungalow village of Winehelsea, on the beach near the famous Thirteenth Century Village. The sea has burst the barrier of shingle protecting the homes and flooded a large area. It is feared when the tide is at its highest tomorrow, the houses may be inundated and the broad pastures covered.
