WRESTLING TONIGHT

McDOUGALL AND LUNDYN TO MEET FORMIDABLE EXPONENTS This evening at the Town Hall the Auckland wrestling season will open, the contestants being Alex Lundyn’ of Finland, and “Scotty” McDougall’ of Canada, two men who will be making their first appearance in this country. Although neither man has been seen in action here there is no that both “know their wrestling.” In 200 contests Lundyn has mixed with the best in many lands and has built up a combination of styles and holds which makes him a dangerous opponent for any man. McDougall has figured in upward of 700 bouts during his 17 years of wrestling, and many of his opponents have been some of the best men in Canada and the United States. While in Australia he met George Walker who is recognised in Auckland as on“ of the best men to be seen in the local ring, his only defeat being against Pesek, McDougall losing one match and drawing in the other. Any man who can earn a draw against Walker is an opponent to be reckoned with and it appears that no matter who wins tonight both will know they have been wrestling. An excellent programme of amateur bouts has been arranged in support of the main event.
