ACCIDENT IN DARKNESS From Our Own Correspondent PALMERSTON N„ Today. To avoid crashing into a lorry which pulled up suddenly in front of him the driver of a car on the Whirokino Road, near Foxton, on Wednesday evening, jammed on the breaks so sharply that the vehicle skidded into a Government drain on the roadside. There is struck another car which was already in the water and which had "Been the cause of the lorry’s sudden stoppage. There were five passengers in the second car, but none of them was seriously injured and those in the first, which came from Wellington, also escaped. Later, both cars were towed out of the • drain and taken to Foxton.
