MESSAGES FROM GODLEY AND BIRDWOOD

AUSTRALIA AND DOMINION Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Anzac Day messages have been exchanged by Sir William Birdwood. Commander-In-Chief in India, and Major-General R. Young, officer commanding the New Zealand Forces. General Young has also sent greetings to General Sir Alexander Godley. Governor of Gibraltar, and a message from the latter has been received by the Minister of Defence. Greetings have also been exchanged between the defence forces of New Zealand and the defence force of tha Commonwealth of Australia. SERVICES AND PARADES SUBURBAN CEREMONIES Many church services and parades of ex-soldiers will take place In the City and suburbs tomorrow. The Auckland Grammar School Old Boys’ Association Invites former scholars to attend a commemoration ceremony at the school at 9 a.m. The annual service in memory of old boys of King's College who gave their lives in the Great War will be held in the college chapel at 7.30 p.m. The headmaster, the Rev. H. K. Archdall, will preach. Veterans of the Boer War will parade with the South African War Veterans’ Association. Members are asked to assemble at the Park Road gate to the Domain cricket ground at 1.30 p.m. At Onehunga a service in the Foresters’ Theatre at 10 a.m. will be followed at 11 a.m. by the laying of wreaths at the Memorial Arch in Jellicoe Park. At Birkenhead the service will be held in the civic reserve, Highbury Corner, at 3 p.m. The Mayor, Mr. J. McPhail, will preside, and addresses will be given by the Rev. E. T. Olds and Major H. S. Whitehorn. At Devonport wreaths will be placed on the War Memorial at 10.15 a.m. At a service to be held In the Victoria Theatre at 7.30 p.m. the Mayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, will preside, and an address will be given by the Rev. C. Hoskin. A united memorial service will be held in the Edendale Presbyterian Church at 7.30 p.m. All the ministers of the district will take part. In the Salvation Army Congress Hall at 8 p.m. all the corps will unite in a service over which Brigadier Cottrill will preside. A number of Salvationists who served during the Great War will take partThe Mayor of Northcote. Mr. A. E. Greenslade, will preside at a service to be held in the Palais Theatre at 7.30 p.m. The speakers will be the Rev. W. Gilmour and Major-General Sir George Richardson. A service at Takapuna will be held In the Foresters’ Hall at 11 a.m., following a parade which will leave the corner of Lake Road and Sanders Avenue at 10.45 a.m.
