THIEF ROBS HOUSES
GOLD RINGS AND COINS TAKEN From Our Own Correspondent PALMERSTON N., Toda}'. While a party of picnickers at Almadale, near Cheltenham, was away from the motor-car a few days ago the car was robbed and a rifle and a wallet, containing among other things a glasscutter, were stolen. Next evening the window of a nearby house had a section cut out so that the lock could be reached, and an intruder entered the house and stole several gold rings. On the same day the house of Mr. Calvert, in Cameron’s Line, was entered and £2O mostly in gold, stolen. On Monday the totalisator at Feildmg was watched by the police, and although two investors paid gold in at the window, they were able to explain satisfactorily their possession of it.
