FIREMEN AT TAIHAPE
BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION COMPLETION OF EVENTS From Our Oxen Correspondent TAIHAPK. Monday. The United District Fire Brigades’ demonstration, which opened at Taihapo on Saturday, was brought to a successful conclusion today. Competition was keen, and some good performances were recorded. The weather was unsettled, but nevertheless there was a satisfactory attendance. The Taumarunui Boys’ Band was engaged for the occasion, and as an additional attraction, a whole bullock was roasted at the demonstration in the proper Maori style. SD 3-ssee; Otaki A. 92 2-ssee. FIVE-MEN HOSE AND HYDRANT EVENT. Waipukurau A. 27 2-ssec 1 Lower Hutt A. 2S 2-ssee - Taihape A, 29 l-ssec o Petone A, 31 1-ssec, and Dannevirke A. 31 l-ssec, tied for fourth place, and in the draw' Petone was successful. Four other teams also competed. FOUR-MEN MOTOR EVENT. Carterton A. 49sec 1 Taihape A. 53sec . . ~ Dannevirke A. 53 2-ssec 3 Petone A. 54 3-ssec 4 Four other teams competed.
