F Tunks, this morning, at the Inquest concerning the death of Kenneth Whitworth, who was drowned in the Wairoa River on Sunday morning. The evidence showed that Whit worth, with two companions, went deer-stalking, leaving their car at the side of the river, which they crossed. When returning Whitworth and one companion, L. Entwistle, attempted to take a short cut by swimming a deep channel fully clad. Whitworth, who was behind, called out and disappeared at once. Entwistle searched repeatedly, but found no trace and reported to the police, who found the body yesterday. Whitworth had recently left the high school.
