MATAROA DOG TRIALS
KEEN COMPETITION From Our Own Correspondent TAIHAPE, Thursday. The Mataroa dog trials opened on Tuesday, and are still in progress. Competitors are present from all parts of the North Island, and competition is very keen. The work of the dogs is the subject of much favourable comment. The following are the results to date: Head, Pull, and Drive.—J. Goodwin's Nell, 68 points, 1: H. Harris's Kep, 65i points, 2; F. England’s Toss, 63 points. 3; J. McHardy’s Jack, 60 points. 4. Huntaway.—R. Staples’s Jock, 4<V. points, 1: Mrs. Long’s Sandy, 40 point-. 2; G. West's Lark, 39 i points, 3; C. Dobbs’s Mack, 37£ points, 4. Huntaway, open only to competititors under 18 years.—Miss E. Coogan’s Don. 23 points, 1; Miss N. Cottrell’s Top. 21 points, 2; D. Cleave's Clyde, 13 points. President's Bracelet, for best maiden dog (local) in Class I.—J. McHardy. Gold Medal, presented by Mr. E. Coogan for competitor under 20 years scoring most points in Class I.—S. .Steedman.
