COMMUNITY SINGING

SEASON OPENS IN MAY The First “community sing” will be held at the Town Hall toward the end of May, slightly earlier than last year. The Community Singing Committee met recently, when the following executive committee was appointed: Mr. G. Grey Campbell, chairman; Messrs. M. Guthrie, L. A. Eady, V. T. Drew, W Metcalfe, IT. L. Paterson, T. S. Bellamy, C. E. Clarke, A. Dow, U. Stewart, AT. Xola, Lon Barnes, and W. Woodhead (secretary). Owing to difficulties of copyright, tho committee is unable to publish a book of words for free distribution as in past years. They are, however, arranging to purchase a book with a much greater selection of songs which will be offered for sale at a few pence a copy. Negotiations are proceeding for the broadcasting of the sings from IYA. The sum of £lls was distributed among the various charities last year, and it is hoped to surpass this in the forthcoming season.
