Humphries has returned from a two months’ holiday tour in the South Island. TENNIS DANCE The Tennis Club Queen Carnival was brought to a successful close on Friday evening when a large number of dancers attended a dance in the Masonic Hall, where the final results were announced. Music was supplied by Noffke's orchestra, extras being contributed by Miss V. Brayshaw and Miss D. Lowry. The Country Queen wore a frock of phlox pink charmeuse with embroidery and lace. Miss A. Thomas, the Sports Queen, wore silver lame over delphinium blue. Miss A. Cornish's (Town Queen) frock was of salmon taffeta and net. Among those present were: Mrs. E. Jacl:son, Misses Donnev, M. Sweetapple, K. Chadwick, F. Hewitt, B. Lundon, R. Wilson, M. Grimwade, B. Ramsay, V. Brayshaw, 78. McNaughton, Z. Howarth, E. Hammond, D. Donald, T. Young, C. Chierney, D. Ganley, K. Reynolds, P. O'Connor, B. Spinley, R. Chierney, M. Muir, D. Wright, D. Hudson and T. Hewitt. GIFT EVENING Miss Marjorie Smith, a member of the Morrinsville Oddfellows’ Lodge, who is to be married shortly, was the guest of honour last Saturday evening, when members of the lodge and friends paid a surprise visit to her home. The time was spent with music and games. A competition which caused much amusement, was won by Mrs. W. Smith. After supper the parcels, which contained many pretty and useful gifts, were opened by Miss Smith. CROQUET AFTERNOON A successful afternoon in aid of the Croquet Club was given by Mrs. H. Manuel, assisted by Mesdames Meliarry and Henderson, at her home in Motumaoho on Friday. Winners of the competitions were:—Bridge, Mesdames Parlour and G. Howie; clock golf, Mrs. Irvine; diabolo, Mrs. Cole; target croquet, Mrs Gifford; jumbled names, Miss Stringer; stepping the chain, Mrs. Maber; cake, Mrs. Cowern. Among those present were:—Mesdames Irvine, T. Martin, C. McLeod, D. Donald, S. Philpott, Ferguson, T. Stark, W. Stark, Skinner, Cowern, A.
