OBSTETRICAL APPEAL FUND I SUCCESSFUL CONCERT AT GREY LYNN To help the Grey Lynn effort in the Obstetrical Appeal, a highly successful concert was given on Tuesday evening in the Grey Lynn Cinema. A speech was made by Mr. J. S. Fletcher thanking all those who had contributed in any' way toward bring- \ ing the campaign to a successful close. The items given were much appreciated, the artists being:—Vocalists, Miss Laura Walker and Mr Arthur Ripley; elocutionists. Miss Edna Thomas and Mr. Raymond Reeve. A ballet presented by Mdlle. Valeska was danced by the Misses .Jean Ferguson, Betty Kerr, Maree Moffat and Marjorie C aland er. A splendid exhibition of Scottish dancing was given by Miss Betty Iverr and Air. Bain Alacdonald, accompanied by Piper McCemb; and Mdlle. Valeska’s Jazz Babies, little June Rice and Dorothy Katipa, who received rounds of applause for their song and dance number. The duties of announcer were efficiently carried out ' by little Nancy Kerr in page-boy suit | of scarlet and gold. Special thanks are due to the theatre manager, Mr. Sagar, to whom the women’s committee is very grateful for his most valuable assistance. The net amount handed to the society from this concert was £ 7 Ss 9d. PUKEKOHE COLLECTION The Pukekohe Committee of the New Zealand Obstetrical Society has forwarded to the Auckland secretary, Mrs. Kidd, the sum of £65 Is. The quota for the district was set down at £SO, but the amount collected was .£65 11s 6d, expenses amounting to 10s Gd. MEETING AT BIRKENHEAD The Birkenhead Obstetrical Appeal Committee met on Monday evening, April 14. Mrs. McPhail, Mayoress, *was in the chair. The final amounts were handed in by the collectors to the lion, secretary and treasurer, Mrs. A. E. Wood. The appeal lias had excellent support in the borough and the splendid total of £4O os has been handed in to the hon. treasurer, Mrs. Kidd.
