FOURTEEN EXTRA EXPRESSES HEAVY EASTER BOOKINGS Fourteen extra express trains will be handled at the Auckland railway station today, in addition to the ten ordinary expresses which arrive and leave daily. Nine extra expresses will run outward and five will arrive here. The Easter railway rush is being more keenly felt by the Railway I f partment than at the Christmas season, owing to the fact that the traffic has to be dealt with both ways in a comparatively few days. Included in the 14’ extra expresses today are three extra passenger trains for Wellington, from which city two additional trains will arrive. Extra passenger trains will also be dispatched to Rotorua, Tauranga and Opua, and extra trains will arrive from Te Kuiti, Rotorua and Whangarei. The accommodation on the Limited express for the South this evening was completely booked a fortnight ago, and since the end of last week there have been no seats available on the second express. The train is being limited to one engine load. Two relief expresses will leave for Wellington this evening, the first at 5.20 and the second at 9.40. There will be ample accommodation on these trains, which will be built up to the limit of IS cars if necessary. If there are more pashenijers available the later train will be split and two trains run. Owing to the rush the department is not able to guarantee chair seats in all cars on exjl jss trains. A heavy demand has been placed upon the rolling stock by several school picnics. In addition to the extra holiday trains today, four school picnics which will be attended by 700 children from the Drury. Papat.oetoe, Manurewa and Avondale schools have to be conveyed to and from Auckland. On Good Friday all ordinary express trains will run and. in addition, several extra expresses are expected from Wellington, and others will be run on the North and Rotorua lines.
