MRS. R. THOMSEN Mrs. Reke Thomsen, of Whitiora, who has died at the age of 71, was born at Holstein, and came to New Zealand 56 years ago, and after hcY marriage to Mr. P. A. Thomsen lived at Te Aroha. Rangiwahia, and Waitetuna, going to Hamilton 12 years ago. Mrs. Thomsen is survived by her husband, one son, and three daughters. MRS. D. HENDERSON The death has occurred of Mrs. Mary Henderson, of Thames, at the age of 79. Coming to New Zealand from Scotland at the age of 17 with her husband, Mr. David Henderson, Mrs. Henderson landed at Dunedin, going to Thames 40 years ago, anil had lived there ever since. Mrs. Henderson is survived by three eons and three daughters. MR. E. R. MURPHY The death occurred on Tuesday of Mr Edward Rowley Murphy, of Wa kare station, near Tokomaru Bay. at ! the age of 56. He was well known in farming and sporting circles in Pov- | ei-tv Bay, having been a Rugby repr - 1 tentative player and had continued his * interest until his death. Mr. Murp, I survived by bis wife, three sons Messrs. E. M. K. and P. Murphy, an. cne daughter, Mrs. X. Pierce, of Auckland. MR. j. T. G. COX One of the most well-known men among children, Mr. James T. G. Cox, formerly inspector of schools in Auckl land, died here yesterday at the age of 60. , Mr. Cox spent 41 years in the service of the Education Department before his retirement two years ago. His long career began in ISB6 when he was appointed pupil teacher at Mount Albert School. Subsequently he was at Maunu, Hukerenui and Taupiri, being headmaster at the last-named school. In 1904 he was appointed inspector under the Auckland Education Board and for 23 years travelled the Auckland Education district. He retired in November. 1927, owing to failing health and received a presentation from brother inspectors. Mr. Cox was a keen bowler. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife an& tw'o sons, Messrs. V. J. and T. W. Cox. solicitors, of Auckland. The eldest son. Mr. IT. W. Cox, was kiiled at U»o I Great War.
