BURNED TO DEATH

FATALITY ATTENDS FIRE IN QUEENSLAND LEAP FROM BALCONY Reed. 10.5 a.m. BRISBANE, Today. Tragedy resulted from a destructive fire which occurred in the small village of Jericho, near Rockhampton, early yesterday morning. Two hotels and three shops were gutted. Mr. James McDonald, aged 53, was burned to death in the Queen’s Hotel. Another boarder. Mr. Walter Mtiston, aged 46, who leaped from a balcony with his clothes on fire, was seriously burned and otherwise injured and later died from his injuries. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO.
