SAW IT DONE
YOU CAN SHOOT FROM THE POCKET, SAYS JUDGE CONSPIRACY CASE LONDON, April 10. Robert Sohr, formerly emigration ohicer for the Bolivian Concessions, Ltd., who sued the company and the directors for alleged fraudulent conspiracy, and for wrongful dismissal, was awarded £1,850 for wrongful dismissal. Mr. Justice McCardle held that a servant was entitled to the right of self-defence, and to threaten to shoot if he thought he -was in danger of serious assault, or if his safety really was threatened. The charges pf fraudulent conspiracy against the Bolivian Concessions were not proved. During the final day of the hearing a witness for the defence, named E’angen, referring to a revolver incident, observed; “You cannot shoot from pockets.” The Judge: Yes, you can. Fangen: Then they must have marvellous pockets. How are you going to fire- the revolver off ? The Judge answered that he had seen a demonstration by an expert, who fired from his trouser pocket so as to prevent a man throwing a poised knife.
