SEVENTEEN CHILDREN DIE IN CINEMA FILM AFIRE AND LIGHTS FAIL Reed. 10.45 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Seventeen persons were killed, and 11 injured, as the result of a cinema panic at Licata (Sicily). When a film caught fire, the audience stampeded, although the building was undamaged. All the victims were between 12 and IS years of age. The electric light failed, and the occupants of a balcony fought madly in total darkness to reach the exits.
