CORINTHIANS PROMOTED TO SENIOR RANK CONTROL BOARD MEETS The Control Board of the Auckland Football Association last evening promoted Corinthians to senior A grade rank, as the Philomel Club was not entering a senior grade team. A deputation was received from the North Shore Club appealing against the decision of the board regarding the relegation scheme. The deputation pointed out in support of its appeal that although the club was one of the . healthiest organisations in the code the relegation to senior grade B might seriously affect tho club, both in the matter of membership ancl finance. The chairman, in reply, explained that the committee considered the relegation would have the effect of strengthening the senior team, in that the younger members of the club would be promoted with a view to re-estab-lishing the team in tho A grade. He also pointed out that the North Shore would thrive more as a leading senior grade B team than as a bottom A grade On behalf of tho board. Mr. A. Menzies, chairman, presented Mr. A. Massam, the secretary of the association, with a fireside chair and cushion on the eve of his marriage. Several speakers paid tribute to Mr. Massam’s qualities as a sportsman. and • all wished him every success and happiness. i During Mr. Massam’s absence, Mr. L. J. Check will act as secretary to the association.
