VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
A.M.C. EMPLOYEES MEET More than 140 employees of the Auckland Meat Company met last evening to bid farewell to Mr. Thomas Marks, chief buyer of the company, who is leaving on April 24 on a combined holiday and business tour of Great Britain, the Continent and America. On behalf of the employees, Mr. J. McLeod, an employee of the company since its establishment, presented Mr. Marks with a travelling rug. safety razor, cigarette case and cigarettes, and a wallet. The chairman of directors, Mr. Jabez Marks, on behalf of the directors, presented a solid leather suitcase. Tho function took the form of a smoke concert and the employees took full advantage of the opportunity to meet in social converse. Items were given by Messrs. H. Flood. P. Evans, F. Baker, J. Lonergan, J. Smithson and Brosman. Mr. Cr. Goodwin, formerly chief buyer for Hellabv’s. Ltd., will take over Mr. Marks’s work.
