BURST INTO FLAMES

MOTOR-CYCLE BURNED AT SURREY CRESCENT CAUSED BY BACK-FIRE As the result of a backfire, a motorcycle burst into flames'in Surrey Crescent shortly before eight o’clock this morning. The machine was badly damaged and City-bound traffic was held up for about five minutes. The cycle was ridden by Mr R Redshaw, of 55 Old' Mill Road, Orey Lynn, who was on his way to work It caught fire opposite St. Joseph’s Church, Surrey Crescent, and the fire brigade -was summoned and extinguished the flames promptly with the patent extinguishers. The tank was practically ruined and the leather work was badly damaged. The motor-cycle was not insured.
