RESERVOIR EMPTIED

PUKEKOHE LEFT WITHOUT WATER POLICE INVESTIGATING From Our Own Correspondent PUKEKOHE, Monday. Pukekohe was without water early this morning. Some person or persons opened the valve in the main leading to the swimming baths last evening, with the result that the reservoir on Doctor’s Hill, containing 250,000 gallons, was emptied. The pumps were put into operation about 7 a.m., and by 8.30 the pressure was restored. As the keys to the valve were locked away, and the valve did not appear to be tampered with, it is surmised that some oflicial may have overlooked the shutting off of the valve. The auxiliary reservoir on Pukekohe Hill could have been commissioned if required. The Borough Council has offered a | reward of £2O for information leading to the conviction of any person or persons who tampered with the valve. The police are investigating.
