COMMUNISTS SEEK TROUBLE IN SHANGHAI NANKING FALLS BACK Reed. 9.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Sunday. Communist attempts to create Double in Shanghai in the last few days were reduced to naught owing to the firmness of the new Chinese court, which handed 17 Communist youths to the outside native authorities for severe punishment. With the northern rebellion hanging fire, Moscow is reported to have sent numerous Russians to Shanghai disguished as “whites” for the purpose cf stirring up serious trouble and embarrassing the rear Nanking Government forces. The foreign authorities view the next three weeks with considerable anxiety. The war situation is unchanged save Nanking is still slowly withdrawing south-ward along the Tientsin-Pukow railway.
