GRAND THEATRE

“The Shop Worn Angel,” which will be presented at the Grand Theatre again this evening, is an intriguing tale of theatrical life in New York in the exciting days of 1918. Nancy Carroll appears as a chorus girl, rather blase, who is much courted by a wealthy theatrical producer, played by Paul Lukas. Merely in an endeavour to spite him she turns to the first stranger, a lonely soldier in New York for a brief holiday, before leaving for France. This role is plaj-ed by Gary Cooper. The film includes a number of spectacular theatrical scenes, and is synchronised with excellent music. The wedding scene at the close is done entirely in dialogue. Fxcellent supporting items complete the programme.
