WELLINGTON CRICKTET CLUB WINS SENIOR HONOURS
The Wellington Club has carried off senior cricket honours in Wellington this summer, and the victory is well deserved. The club has always been a strong one numerically, but it is many years since its senior te.'fn won the championship. Quite a number of reasons may be assigned for its most recent success, but administrative ability has had a considerable amount to do with the victory. The captain of the team, R. A. Whyte, is quite a young man to occupy such a position, but his genius for leadership has been apparent on many occasions. The team was also fortunate in securing several very capable players, providing a suitable leavening with men who have occupied a place in the team for several seasons. A. M. Rollings left Varsity to join up with Wellington, giving the latter club the benefit of his genius as a batsman. Another recruit who helped to improve the fortunes of the club wa? Denis Blundell, the Cambridge ‘ Blue.’ who has provided the team with greatly increased bowling strength. These, things combined, have been sufficient for Wellington to secure a welldeserved victory in the championship competition-
