PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE NORTHCOTE BRANCH CELEBRATES ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY The eleventh anniversary of the Northeote Women’s Progressive League was celebrated on Thursday afternoon, when a social was held in the Parish Hall. Mrs. D. P. O’Leary, president of the league, presided over a large number of members and friends, including visitors from the Victoria League and kindred societies. The hall was * gaily decorated with white, gold and purple-tinted autumn flowers, while a dainty afternoon tea was served in the adjoining supper room. Two interesting competitions were enjoyed. A pleasant musical programme was contributed by Miss Keith Harrison, Aliss Phyllis Johnston. Aliss Sliutes, Airs. A. Campbell and Air. P. Alinns. An interesting report of the recent work conducted by the National Council of Women was given by Mrs. Wood. SOCIAL AND DANCE INDOOR BOWLING CLUB AT MANUREWA There was a good attendance of young folk at the second of a series of socials and dances organised by the Manurewa Indoor Bowling Club. Dancing and competitions were indulged in, interspersed with items. ONEHUNGA BRANCH MEETS Onehunga W.C.T.U. met yesterday in the Alethodist schoolroom and there was a good attendance to hear Alajor Gordon's address on “Parental Control and the Sense of Religion.” She said that the lack of these two things made it difficult in dealing with the young people today, and in closing stated that the strength and influence of good women are wanted now as never before. A pianoforte duet was given by Alesdames Green and Craig.
