INTOXICATION SEQUEL
FARMER FINED £3O INJURIES TO WOMAN From Our Own Correspondent TE AROHA, Thursday. A fine of £3O was imposed by Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., in the Police Court today on Albert Hirst, a farmer, of Elstow, for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. His licence was cancelled for three years. Evidence for the prosecution was given by F. W. Bates, F. Burns, R. M. Taylor, E. Petrie and Courtenay Fitzgerald, to the fact that Mrs. J. Fitzgerald, senr., had been knocked down and injured by defendant’s car when Hirst was returning from the Paeroa races. It was stated that defendant was intoxicated and his two companions were also under the influence of liquor. Defendant admitted having had several drinks, but denied being intoxicated.
