MAN-HUNT BY WOMEN
FUGITIVE ESCAPES ON BICYCLE HOTEL THEFTS ALLEGED Press Association INVERCARGILL, Thursday. People passing the Club Hotel shortly before noon today were amazed to see a man dash out of a corridor, hurriedly mount a bicycle and pedal furiously along Dee Street, hotly .pursued by a number of waitresses and other employees of the hotel. The fugitive turned down Esk Street toward the station and then went round the Crescent. When last seen he ■was riding at a fast speed along Tay Street. During the flight round the Crescent some men endeavoured to intercept him, but with a skill that would have done credit to a trick rider he swerved past them and made his escape.
It is stated that the man had been discovered in the servants’ quarters of the hotel, from where sums of money are reported to have been stolen.
