WAITAKIANS FOREGATHER

OLD BOYS’ DINNER The newly-formed Auckland branch of the Waitaki High School Old Boys’ Association held its first function at the Officers Club last evening. The proceedings took the form of a dinner and smoke concert and over 30 old boys were present. A feature of the function was the fact that old boys of all ages attended, almost every phase in the school’s life and growth being represented, and the reminiscences induged in after the formalities were concluded covered the widest range, extending from the initial regime down to that of last year. The chairman of the branch, Mr. R. G. Sellar, presided, and the following toast list was honoured: “The King”; “The School,” proposed by Mr. Clutha Mackenzie and responded to by the chairman; “The Rector,” proposed by Dr. J. H. Wood and responded to by Mr. J. M. Bertram: “Other Branches of the Association,” proposed by Mr. R. M. R. Warren and responded to by Dr. J. B. Liggins.

Musical, elocutionary and humorous items were given by Messrs. T. Harris, H. E. Gillespie, F. E. McCallum, J. W. Forshaw, R. Morgan and Barry Ingall.
