NATIVE LAND POSSESSION
COURT RESERVES DECISION The decision, of the Tokerau Native Land Court in the appeal case in which a return of 3,300 acres of the Oturei Block, at Aratapu, to the Ngati-tVliatua tribe was sought, was reserved yesterday afternoon. On the Bench was the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, Mr. R. N. Jones. Judge C. E. MacCormick and Judfte A. G. Holland. Mr. A. G. Quartley conducted the appeal on behalf of- the Ngati-tVhatua tribe which, in 1873, gave the land to the Hokianga religious leader, Aperehama Taonui. in recognition of his knowledge and teachings. The followers of Taonui were represented by Mr. Louis W. Furore.
